Green Village Airfield – Energy Autonomy

Elektra One will need only about 20 m2 photovoltaic cells (costs about  6000 EUR) on the hangar roof in order to fly more than 300 hours/year (South Germany conditions). Elektra Two will need about 40 m2 solar cells. In less than 8 years the costs of the solar cells will be returned. In this way a real CO2 zero emission flight will be realized.

We name this concept “Green Village Airfield”, the future of e-mobility in flying clubs leisure aviation. PC-Aero is working close with the German Aeroclub (DAeC).

NASA-/CAFE-Green Flight Challenge 2011 (1,5 Mio. $)

The Team PC-Aero will compete with Elektra One for the NASA-/CAFE-Green Flight Challenge (http://cafefoundation.org) in summer 2011 (USA/California). This will be the highest price in the history of general aviation (1.5 Mio. $) and will be sponsored by NASA. The goal: fly with less than 1 gallon/100 miles with more than 100 MPH, for a 200 miles range, for a two seat aircraft. A one seat aircraft must fly with 0.5 gallons/100 miles. For electric power 1 gallon will be converted in 33.7 kWh. PC-Aero built up a strong international team of world wide best engineers and test pilots (*) in order to win this price. The NASA Green Flight Challenge event will be followed by the whole media world. As a team with the best chance to win we offer attractive sponsorship possibilities.

Sponsoring

In order to demonstrate our innovation, engineering and prototyping capabilities our team members invested thousands of man hours of work and the needed financial capital.

We presented our ELEKTRA ONE during the Aero 2010 (the Global Show for General Aviation) and the expo for sustainable mobility, The Electric Avenue - both in Friedrichshafen/Germany. The media resonance was more than expected. Well known aviation- and general newspapers reported very positive and enthusiastic about our aircraft: Flight International, Aviation Week, EAA Sport Aviation, aerokurier, Financial Times Germany also one of the largest newsmagazine in Germany, Focus, also the special interest magazine, Technology Review.

On March 23, 2011 our ELEKTRA ONE performed it's First Flight successfull.

For the next steps we plan to work together with main sponsors/partners for the following two projects:
- participation in the NASA-/CAFE-Green Flight Challenge (finalized in July 2011)

For the NASA-/CAFE-Green Flight Challenge we plan a sponsoring package of 180.000 EUR, for the second one another package of 120.000 EUR.

Participating at the highest level of association and contribution to the project, we are looking for maximum three main sponsors. They will be each involved in the following fields of activity: high efficient solar cells (more than 20% efficiency in order to be laminated on the curved wing surface, high energy density batteries (less than 5kg/kWh) and battery management, electric engine and engine control also light composite structures. Sponsorship levels are now available for business sponsors, airplane manufacturers, technology and industry partners and research and university partners.

Sponsors will receive media visibility, be granted permission for use of the PC-Aero logo, have opportunities for corporate logo placement, be listed on the www.pc-aero.de website and participate in numerous planned events. These sponsors will be named on the aircraft, on the pilots' uniforms and on those of the PC-Aero Team, on all our TV- and Radio stations, internet sites and on all our air shows and conferences. In this way they will benefit from the most extensive communications possibilities surrounding the project. Because of their sphere of influence, these main sponsors are essential to the success of the project and also participate in the communication of the project's key messages.
